Remote Learning

Remote Learning

What is Remote Education and when might it be accessed?

Attendance is mandatory for all pupils of compulsory school age. Schools should consider providing remote education to pupils in circumstances, when in-person attendance is either not possible or contrary to government guidance.

This might include occasions when school leaders decide that it is not possible for their setting to open safely, or that opening would contradict guidance from local or central government. It could also include occasions when individual pupils, for a limited duration, are unable to physically attend their school but are able to continue learning, for example pupils with an infectious illness.

In these circumstances pupils should have access to remote education as soon as reasonably practicable and in proportion to the length of absence and disruption to their learning.

Remote Learning at Aldermoor Farm Primary School

If a child needed to access remote education, there are a number of online platforms that they will continue to be given access to. Appropriate work for their developmental level will be set on these platforms by their class teachers.

Century

Century is an AI-powered personalised teaching and learning platform. Children take part in pre-unit quizzes and the results from this set them off on their very own learning platform. Century can be accessed via the children’s magic badge. Teachers can monitor the work the children are completing on Century and can provide feedback.

Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS)

TTRS is a maths programme where children can practise their times tables. It has a proven track record of boosting children’s fluency and recall in multiplication and division. Children can access TTRS through their magic badge.

SpellingShed

Spelling Shed’s approach to spelling involves the relationship between sounds and written symbols as well as using morphology to help spell through meaning.

The carefully selected word lists and engaging activities provide opportunities to incorporate phonics and meaning to strengthen spelling skills and build vocabulary acquisition. Children can access SpellingShed through their magic badge.

Support with Remote Learning
