Once our children have completed the Read Write Inc phonics scheme, they use the Accelerated Reader programme to help develop their reading skills and further enhance the way that they read for pleasure.
Each term, children are assessed using a STAR reading test, which helps to determine their reading level. The test level is then used to help our children to choose texts, which are at an appropriate level of challenge.
When they have completed reading a book, children can take quizzes on these which will help them to develop their reading comprehension skills as well as earning rewards in assembly such as ‘Ready, Independent and Advanced Readers’. We are also very excited to find out who our next ‘Millionaire’ Reader will be.
